Choosing a Print

Choose your print based on how you plan to hang it. There are two basic options.

Print on Paper
The print on paper will require a frame and glass to protect it.  Extra space is provided around the edges of Art by Preference prints for optional matting as well.  This is a common option and the least expensive.

Print on Canvas
The print on canvas can be hung as is and framing is optional.  The image is mirrored on the edge, which means that it is printed in reverse on the edge instead of having a blank edge.  In cases where the image can be extended without losing too much of the image, it will be automatically done.
Print Quality
All Art by Preference fine art prints on paper and canvas are gi·clée, archival quality prints. Archival quality means they will generally last 60-200 years.  The life of your print depends mostly on your treatment of it and its environment. See more below.

Caring for Your Print
For maximum print life:
  • Please keep your paper print inside its protective wrapping until you plan to hang it.
  • Prints should be stored or displayed in environments with controlled temperatures.  Be especially considerate of moisture levels.
  • Avoid touching the printed image directly with your fingers.
  • Avoid hanging in direct sunlight.  If you have a print on paper, it is ideal to have UV blocking glass inside your frame.
  • If you must hang your print near a cooking area, be wary that oils may collect on its surface.  Canvas prints may be gently wiped, but paper prints should be inside a glass regardless.
