Can my guests pay individually? ABP can accept individual payments. Contact directly rather than submitting the booking form.
What do you provide and what do I provide?
Art by Preference brings everything needed to conduct the art activity. You provide the safe location, tables, and chairs. Of course, if you're planning a full event, you would provide food or drink.
Is there a minimum group size? Yes. The minimum to host a party is 10 people.
What if I have less than 10 people? You pay for 10 people regardless of group size. The exception is if you have a group of 2-4 and host your event in Rocky Mount, NC, or virtually in Google Meet; book a Small Group Private Lesson.
What is the largest size group you have guided? I have guided 80+ people at once.
What size group do you recommend? For the best 1-to-1 experience, I recommend groups of 10-12. I truly enjoy being able to provide 1-to-1 assistance to each guest. I can still get to everyone in a larger group, but not as efficiently within the allotted time so the maximum for a two-hour session is 30 people.
Can you do other activities not shown in the booking? Art by Preference can guide many art activities, however the ones shown are the ones currently offered. You are welcome to inquire directly with an idea that is not painting on canvas.
In what spaces are you willing to guide my group? Art by Preference can come to any safe location. Preference has guided groups in residential kitchens, dining areas, and living rooms, temperature-controlled garages, restaurants, outdoors, banquet rooms, conference rooms, and more.
What age groups do you work with? Art by Preference is experienced with teaching all age groups but works mostly with adults 18 and up now.
How much lead time do you require? I prefer 3-4 weeks minimum and this is dependent upon the activity you request, supply availability, and ABP availability. You can book as far out as 90 days early.
What if a time I wish to request is not visible? You are welcome to inquire directly.
PRIVATE PARTY TERMS

DEPOSITS | A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to hold dates for an Art by Preference private event. The deposit is applied to your final balance. If you cancel the party completely before your final payment is made, the deposit is forfeited.
PAYMENT | Final payment is typically due three weeks before the event to allow for preparation, unless more or less time is needed (i.e. you have a large group or ABP agrees to short notice). If you request a party with short notice, limited options are available for payment.
ARRIVAL & SETUP | Host/esses should have the party space ready with tables and chairs for ABP set-up at least one hour before the event is scheduled to begin (unless otherwise requested/agreed upon).
Preference will provide her arrival time in advance, usually one hour prior to the event start time. This varies based on the number of guests and the activity.
SUPPLIES | Art by Preference will provide the following supplies:
● All art supplies needed for the activity
● Table covers when needed and functional
● Floor covers when needed and safe (on non-slip surfaces)
CLEAN-UP | Art by Preference breaks down set-up for the event and cleans any mess associated with the ABP event.
REFUNDS | NO REFUNDS
RESCHEDULING | If a rescheduling is agreed upon in advance, a 90-day credit will be issued and is based on Art by Preference availability.
CANCELLATION | Please notify ABP of cancellations as soon as possible. If using a venue, please be sure to follow their policies as well. Art by Preference may occasionally recommend a location but is not responsible for venue communication.
ABSENT GUESTS | If a guest cannot attend, you may find another person to fill the space. Otherwise, their payment/reservation is forfeited.

Can I request a specific hosting style?
Yes. Let ABP know whether you prefer a professional, polished, energetic, playful, or interactive hosting style.
Will ABP prepare a script?
Clients may provide a script or event agenda. Custom script preparation and extensive program development may require an additional fee.
Can ABP host games and activities?
Yes. Game facilitation and audience participation may be included when agreed upon in advance. Game supplies and additional preparation may incur additional charges.
Does hosting include a DJ or music?
No. DJ services, music production, and sound equipment are not automatically included. Clients are responsible for providing the necessary equipment unless otherwise agreed upon.
Can I book ABP for a short appearance?
Yes. Hosting services may be booked for a specific portion of an event, subject to availability and the minimum booking duration.
What happens if my event runs late?
Hosting services conclude at the scheduled end time. Additional time is subject to availability and may incur additional charges.

EVENT INFORMATION & PREPARATION | Clients must provide accurate event information by the agreed-upon deadline, including:

Custom scripts, extensive preparation, and substantial last-minute changes may incur additional fees.
SCOPE OF HOSTING SERVICES | Hosting services are limited to the responsibilities agreed upon before booking.
Event Emcee: Services may include announcements, introductions, program transitions, and facilitating the event schedule.
Party Hype Host: Services may include crowd engagement, interactive games, audience participation, and encouraging a lively atmosphere.
Neither service automatically includes event planning, DJ services, sound equipment, catering, photography, decorations, or other entertainment services. ABP is not responsible for managing vendors, supervising children, controlling guest behavior, or coordinating activities outside the agreed-upon scope.
EVENT DURATION & ADDITIONAL TIME | Hosting begins and ends at the scheduled booking times. Clients are responsible for ensuring the event is ready for hosting at the scheduled start time. Delays caused by the client, guests, or venue do not automatically extend the booking. Additional time is subject to ABP's availability and must be approved. Additional hosting time will be billed at the applicable rate. ABP is not obligated to remain beyond the scheduled end time.
EQUIPMENT & VENUE REQUIREMENTS | Clients are responsible for providing a safe, appropriate hosting environment and any equipment not specifically included in the booking.

ABP must be informed of any outdoor conditions, venue restrictions, or equipment limitations that may affect the service.
CLIENT & GUEST CONDUCT | Clients are responsible for the behavior of their guests and for ensuring that the hosting environment remains safe and appropriate. ABP reserves the right to pause or discontinue services if the environment becomes unsafe, threatening, discriminatory, or inappropriate. No refund will be provided for services discontinued due to client or guest misconduct or unsafe conditions.
CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING | Deposits are nonrefundable. Rescheduling requests must be submitted in advance and are subject to availability. Additional fees may apply to rescheduled events. Cancellations after preparation has begun may result in additional charges for approved work already completed. If ABP must cancel, the client will be offered a rescheduled date or a refund for the affected service.
PHOTOGRAPHY & RECORDING | Clients and guests may photograph or record the event, subject to venue rules and applicable permissions. ABP will not use identifiable event photographs or recordings for promotional purposes without appropriate permission.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT | By completing a booking, the client acknowledges that they have reviewed and agreed to these terms. The client understands that hosting services are limited to the responsibilities agreed upon at the time of booking and that additional requests may require a separate quote or additional payment.
CHOOSING A BODY PAINTING SESSION
Simple Body Art - 1-Hour Minimum
Choose this session for small, uncomplicated designs with minimal detail, shading, or color variation.
Detailed Body Art - 2-Hour Minimum
Choose this session for intricate designs, layered colors, detailed shading, or precise artwork. Small designs may still require this session if they involve extensive detail.
Extensive Body Art - 3-Hour Minimum
Choose this session for elaborate designs, artwork spanning multiple body areas, or full-body painting. If more time is anticipated, you will be billed separately.
Intimate Body Painting - 2-Hour Minimum
Choose this service for designs on intimate body areas generally covered by clothing or where skin overlaps, including breasts, nipples, inner thigh, genitals, buttocks, or other areas designated as intimate. Available to consenting adults aged 18 and older. More extensive designs may require additional time.
Not sure which option fits your design? Choose based on the detail and coverage you anticipate. Your selected booking determines the available painting time, so designs may need to be simplified if they exceed the session length.

What type of paint do you use? Professional quality, hypoallergenic, FDA approved cosmetic grade paint that is safe for skin
What areas of the body do you paint?
Art by Preference can paint everything EXCEPT any orifices of the body, especially not mucous membranes. All designs and placement must be discussed and agreed upon before the session.
How long does the paint last?
Body paint can last for several hours when applied to clean, dry skin and allowed to dry completely. Longevity varies depending on the location of the design, perspiration, friction, clothing, and other environmental conditions. Body paint is not waterproof, transfer-proof, or resistant to rubbing, so designs in areas subject to frequent contact may wear off more quickly. Avoid rubbing or touching painted areas until the paint is completely dry.
How do I prepare for body painting?
Arrive with clean, dry skin free of lotions, oils, and other products that may interfere with paint application. The type of body painting you get will determine what you should wear. Full-body painting is best performed on location in a setting equipped for photography.
Do not attend an appointment with irritated or broken skin to be painted. Let Preference know in advance about concerns that could affect the session.
Do you offer intimate body painting?
Yes. Art by Preference offers intimate body painting for consenting adults aged 18 and up only. Consent is required throughout the experience, and either party may pause or discontinue the session at any time. Your ideas can be discussed in advance to determine the scope of your session. Participation must be voluntary, and personal boundaries will be respected throughout the session.
Why does intimate body painting cost more? Intimate body painting is a specialized service that involves the purchase of materials for your experience only, additional preparation, sanitation, extended time, and personalized attention to ensure a comfortable, professional experience.
What are your safety and sanitation practices for intimate body painting? Professional, cosmetic-grade paints and hypoallergenic supplies are used. For intimate body painting, all paint, brushes, gloves, and supplies are purchased/reserved exclusively for your session and discarded afterward to maintain strict hygiene standards.
What if I get aroused during the body painting session?
Arousal can be an involuntary physical response, and Preference recognizes this as a natural reaction. Remain respectful and Preference will remain professional.
Do I have to be fully nude for intimate body painting?
No. Your comfort level and the design determine how much skin needs to be exposed. You may wear underwear, pasties, or other appropriate coverage. Placement and coverage will be discussed before your appointment.
How is privacy handled during intimate body painting?
Preference takes privacy and comfort very seriously. We will discuss your preferences regarding coverage, additional guests, and photography before the session. Photos and videos will only be taken with your explicit permission.

BOOKING & PAYMENT | Standard body painting has a one-hour minimum. Intimate body painting is available to consenting adults aged 18 and older, with a two-hour minimum. Bookings are not confirmed until payment is received.
SERVICE TIME | Scheduled time includes the entire session. Late arrivals do not extend service time. Design complexity, placement, and drying time affect how much artwork can be completed. Designs may be adjusted to accommodate the available time.
DESIGNS & SCOPE | Designs, placement, and coverage must be discussed and agreed upon in advance. Full-body painting is best performed on location in a setting equipped for photography.
CONSENT & BOUNDARIES | Intimate body painting requires voluntary consent from all participating adults. Agreed-upon boundaries must be respected throughout the session. Either the client or artist may pause or discontinue the session at any time.
HEALTH, SAFETY & HYGIENE | Painting will not be performed on skin conditions that make application inappropriate. Clients must disclose known allergies and skin sensitivities. Professional, cosmetic-grade paints and appropriate hypoallergenic supplies are used.
For intimate sessions, disposable gloves, paint, and brushes are reserved exclusively for that session and discarded afterward. Paint is never applied internally or to mucous membranes.
PRIVACY & ATTENDANCE | Guests are not typically in attendance aside from a professional photographer; additional attendees must be discussed and approved in advance. Intimate sessions require a private, appropriate setting.
CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING | Payments are non-refundable. Requests to reschedule made at least 24 hours before the appointment may receive a 90-day credit toward a future product or service, subject to availability. Requests made less than 24 hours in advance are not eligible for credit unless due to inclement weather. Missed appointments are not eligible for refunds or credits.
ARTIST DISCRETION | Art by Preference reserves the right to refuse, pause, or discontinue service when conditions are unsafe, inappropriate, or inconsistent with the agreed-upon scope, consent, boundaries, or professional standards.
PHOTOGRAPHY & RECORDING | Consent to painting does not constitute consent to photography or publication. Clients may decline photography without affecting their service.
FACE PAINTING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What age groups do you work with? The ability to sit still overrides age, but it is recommended for ages 3 and up; details are adjusted based on the individual.

Do you paint individual faces? Yes. Individual appointments are available by advance arrangement and are subject to availability. A minimum appointment charge applies, which includes up to one hour of service.
How much lead time do you need? Lead time varies by the service and is shown on the booking calendar. You are welcome to contact ABP directly for last-minute requests. Last-minute payment options are limited. Affirm is not accepted for last-minute requests, but you can use Afterpay IF you directly request an Afterpay invoice.
How many faces can you paint in one hour? It truly depends on the details, each individual, and conditions. In an ideal situation, ABP can paint 20-30 simple cheek-sized designs. For more advanced designs, it could be around 10 per hour.
What designs are available? Art by Preference has a wide variety of designs to choose from, and a limited amount are featured during each event. Designs can also be created for your event if not already on hand.
What type of paint do you use? Professional quality, hypoallergenic, FDA approved cosmetic grade paint that is safe for skin
How long does the paint last? The paint is not waterproof and does not withstand pouring sweat or water drenching. It can, however, last for at least an hour in cool, indoor environments, as long as it has a chance to dry untouched. Most customers report it lasting for several hours, even overnight when undisturbed.
How do I clean the paint off my body? You can easily remove the paint with water and if you choose, your regular soap. Some colors may leave a slight stain that will go away relatively quickly.
How long is set-up? Preference usually arrives 30-60 minutes in advance, according to event size and details.
What do I need to provide? A safe space. Please let Preference know in advance if you will already have a table and two chairs, and a nearby water source.

BOOKING & PAYMENT | Face painting has a one-hour minimum. Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your date and time. Bookings are not confirmed until payment is received. Additional time, if available, may be purchased separately.
TEMPERATURE & OUTDOOR CONDITIONS | Face painting requires suitable environmental conditions. Excessive heat, humidity, direct sunlight, and extreme cold may affect application and results. Art by Preference does not paint outdoors during winter.
SERVICE TIME | Your scheduled time includes the entire face painting service. Late arrivals do not extend the scheduled service time. The artist will stop accepting new faces when necessary to ensure the service ends on time. Designs are based on available time, guest volume, and complexity. Designs may be simplified when necessary to keep the service on schedule.
GUESTS & DESIGNS | Face painting is provided for the individuals included in your event arrangements. The artist may simplify or decline a design, when necessary, due to time, complexity, or safety considerations.
HEALTH & SAFETY | Face painting will not be performed on anyone with visible skin irritation, open wounds, active rashes, or other conditions that may make painting inappropriate. Guests should inform the artist of known allergies or skin sensitivities before service. Professional, cosmetic-grade face paints and hypoallergenic supplies are used.
CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING | Payments are non-refundable. Do I need previous art experience?
No. Beginners are welcome! Lessons are designed to accommodate different experience levels, whether you are learning the basics or developing existing artistic skills.
Are lessons customized?
Yes. Lessons are tailored to your artistic interests, experience level, and learning goals. Please describe what you would like to accomplish when booking.
Are supplies included in the lesson price?
Lesson fees cover instruction. Depending on your lesson, you may be required to bring your own art supplies. Any required materials will be communicated before your session.
Can I bring my own artwork for feedback?
Yes. You may book an appropriate art feedback or critique session to receive guidance on your existing artwork, technique, composition, or artistic development.
Why book several lessons at once?
Booking several lessons at once is about commitment to your own growth. While one lesson may reveal a lot, improvement is contingent upon consistency. It is easier to stay on track with sessions already secured.
Can I book a lesson with friends or family?
Yes! Small-group lessons are available for 2, 3, or 4 participants. Each participant should have an interest in the lesson topic, and the booking must reflect the correct group size.
How long are private art lessons?
The minimum session is an hour. Once you have done the first lesson, we can discuss options that work best for your goals.
What should I bring to my lesson?
Bring any required supplies communicated before your session, along with your artwork or reference materials if applicable. Please arrive prepared to begin at your scheduled time.
Can I request a specific lesson topic?
Yes. Please describe your desired topic, project, or skill when booking. Requests are subject to review and approval based on the scope of the lesson.
What if I need to reschedule?
If you need to reschedule, use the rescheduling option provided with your booking confirmation, subject to the applicable scheduling policy and available appointments.
PRIVATE LESSON TERMS
Private lessons are held in person in Rocky Mount, NC, or virtually in Google Meet.
SCHEDULING & CANCELLATIONS | Lessons are scheduled by appointment. At least 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice and no-shows count as a used lesson. Emergencies may be considered at the discretion of Art by Preference.
LATE ARRIVALS | Lessons end at the scheduled time. Late arrival does not extend the lesson.
AGES | Private lessons are for adults only. Children age 10 and up may participate in small group lessons and must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of each session.
EXPIRATION | Lessons must be used within 90 days of the purchase date. Any unused sessions remaining after 90 days expire and are not refundable or transferable.
MATERIALS | Students are responsible for any materials specifically identified as required for their lessons. Any materials provided by Art by Preference will be identified in advance.
ARTWORK & INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS | Artwork created by the student belongs to the student. Instructional materials, demonstrations, templates, and other materials created by Art by Preference remain the property of Art by Preference and may not be reproduced or distributed without permission.
PHOTOGRAPHY | Student artwork will not be used for promotional or public purposes without the student's permission.
INSTRUCTOR CANCELLATIONS | If Art by Preference must cancel a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited/refunded as appropriate.
